Templates
Inventor’s drawing templates are where you define a myriad of settings that control the look and feel of your drawings. Beyond merely containing a drawing format, this is the place where implement your CAD standards. PacifiCAD can help you build your company’s title blocks and borders in Inventor, either from scratch or from your existing drawing files.
You can create a template
from a drawing, preserving annotations on drawing sheets, such as custom
symbols, notes, and revision tables. In addition, your borders, title blocks
and view definitions can be retained in the template. View annotations and
general notes are not saved in a template.
iFeatures
An iFeature is one or more part features that can be saved as a group and reused in other designs. After you create an iFeature and store it in a catalog, you can place it in a part by dragging it from Windows Explorer and dropping it in the part file or by using the Insert iFeature tool. PacifiCAD can teach you how to create & use iFeatures, as well as develop catalogs of iFeatures for you.
iParts
Inventor’s iPart tools let you define table-driven parts, where each row represents a unique member of a family of parts. Values in each row of the table uniquely define a family member’s dimensions, material properties, threads, iMate information, feature suppression, and so on. PacifiCAD’s developers can help you design and build these factories, saving you countless hours of time when compared with creating families of parts on an individual basis.
iAssemblies
An iAssembly is a
configuration of a model with a few or many variations called members. Each
member has a set of unique identifiers such as diameter or length, or different
components such as a power train for a vehicle with several different engine
sizes. You can manage iAssemblies from a table. In an assembly, you can replace
one member with another member from the same factory by selecting a different
row in the table. The bill of materials and parts list automatically update
when members are edited.
Styles
Styles in drawings are
related to the drawing's active drafting standard. The active drafting standard
specifies the styles used to format drawings. Each standard has major style
types such as balloons and dimensions, which each specify the formatting for
individual attributes. Styles define, for example:
- Line weights and leader styles
- Arrowheads and other terminators
- Dimension and text styles
- Symbols and options available for drawing annotations
- Format welding symbols, caterpillars, and end treatments
- Center mark style and size
- Hatch pattern choices
- Formats for parts lists and balloons
Styles in parts and assemblies control colors, materials, and lighting attributes.
